The venue is dark with chiaroscuro tones as the air shimmers with falling glitter, the cabaret stage is waiting for something different. A distinctly Turkish drum beat pulsates and answers this call and the one and only Sofire Rosa takes to the stage.
Hip dropping, chest popping and twirling like a dervish, Sofire Rosa burst on to the belly dance scene in 2004 delighting her audiences throughout Merseyside. Sofire soon discovered her love for the 1940's and 50's whilst performing at a burlesque show in Sheffield. Using her passion for bellydance and knowledge for the entertainment industry, she co-directed the very popular Narcissus Burlesque from 2009 to 2010, which was sponsored Kiss Me Deadly lingerie. Her bellydance performances kept the audiences coming back for more!
Sofire's ability to mix cultures like she mixes chemical elixirs in her degree lead her to set up Sheffield University's very first Belly Dance Society and now continues to teach the members. You can also find Sofire performing monthly at Sheffield's finest Moroccan restaurant Otto's.
Sofire Rosa has established her self both on stage and in front of the camera, with her celluloid exploits captured by Donovan's Darlings as well as doing regular freelance modelling.
In February 2011, Sofire crossed the Pennines to set up camp in the vibrant city of Manchester were her shimmying and shaking earnt her the honour of becoming one of Taste Of Cairo's elite set of belly dancers.
